Clovers/Poison Ivy

This essay has to be at least 150 words!

I had to go outside and choose one or two plants to identify! So I chose clovers and poison ivy.

Clovers usually have three leaves some of them have four leaves. (I am sure that you have heard of a four leafed clover) The leaf is dark green and on the leaf there is two stripes if light green or pale green. The four leaf clover looks exactly the same but with four leaves. Clovers are edible, you can eat the whole thing! Even the root!!!

Poison ivy

Poison ivy has three leaves. In the middle of the three leaves it has a red spot. If you touch poison ivy, the oily sap from it can give you a rash that is very very very itchy . So try not to touch it.

Photosynthesis

Describe how photosynthesis works: 50 words

Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants (or trees) use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water.

In order to perform photosynthesis a plant needs sunlight, carbon dioxide, water, and chlorophyll! Chlorophyll is a green substance that all green plants have it is also what gives plants their color.

Write About How Plants Defend Themselves

When a Caterpillar bites into a plant, genes from the plant’s DNA are activated and a chemical warfare begins against the caterpillar. The chemical attracts insects and bugs like dragonflies, butterflies, etc.

Some plants can detect when an insect’s eggs land on it. And it lets out a poison to kill it. If a brussel sprout detects insect eggs on it, it puts out a chemical to attract female wasps. The wasp injects its own eggs into the caterpillar eggs. Over time the wasps larvae eats the tiny caterpillar as a snack.

Fun fact: plants can sense when another plant is growing beside them and they try to grow the other way.

There are many different minerals like Gold, Silver, Mercury, etc. There are also minerals that we eat, such as salt! Salt is a mineral substance. Minerals are the building blocks of rocks.

There is another mineral called Fluorite this mineral is used in toothpaste.

The last mineral I am going to write about is called ‘Talc’. Talc in powdered form, is used in or as baby powder. Talcum powder is often combined with corn starch. That is it for this essay, I hope you enjoyed reading it.

If I could to one thing to make the world a better place what would I do?

Well this one is fairly easy. I would make everyone a Christian. And they would follow the Ten Commandments. Some of the Commandments that come to mind are:

Do not lie.Do not steal. No other gods before God. Do not take the lords name in vain. And remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. The one that comes to mind first is, Do not murder (this includes abortion).

There are a few more. Below are the Ten Commandments.

Write a summary of one of this weeks lesson’s! (History Grade 6)

I will write about lesson 53 (The legends of the founding of Rome)

The date for the founding of Rome is 753 BC. This was 30 years before Israel fell in 722 BC.

The story of the founding of Rome is full of myth and legend. But it is fact that the city formed and became a civilization.

The Etruscans were people who began living in Italy in 800 BC. They probably came from Aisa Minor. These people lived on hills and lived in 12 different cities. The Etriscans left records of their culture including Architecture, Art, And religion.

There are 2 famous legends that go with the founding of Rome story.

The first was about the twins that were nursed by a she-wolf. The two boys grew up and found out that they were princes. And they went out to find cities for themselves. Both of the boys were anxious to be the stronger brother. They prayed to their gods for signs. In a disagreement over the meaning of the signs Romulus kills Remus. Romulus then builds the city on his chosen place.

The name Rome comes from Romulus.

The other legend is called the Sabine women.

What is Something I’d Like to Learn to Do?

Well, at the moment I can only think of one thing. I really want to know how to french braid as well as my mom can. I like to practice braiding on my sister but it doesn’t turn out right.

And when I do it on myself it looks like a huge mess.

I guess the more I practicing I do, the better I will get at it. But I DO wish I could braid as well as my mom can right now.

If you don’t know what a french braid is, here is a picture:
